Daily Report - Tuesday

Workout:
Back Squats
10-5-3-1-5-5 (interesting new rep scheme - I wasn't quite sure how to handle it)
My body is still pretty sore from the weekend - so I kind of took it easy (although 175 felt
pretty heavy!)
65-95-115-135-165-175

Today was an interesting day in 'diet' world. I spend the day in court. Thank goodness I packed my nifty backpack cooler (thanks sis!) because I was there for 4.5 hours.
My 3rd meal of the day was scarfed down hiding behind a chair (your not allowed to eat or drink while they make you wait for 4+ hours). I could only manage to put the (whole!) boiled egg in my mouth, not the cold broccoli. They finally let us take a lunch break -- I found a place to eat my (cold!) chicken, spinach and apple. Cold sauteed sp
inach is disgusting but I choked as much of it down as I could at supplemented with the broccoli that I couldn't sneak during snack time. Can't wait for a WARM dinner tonight.

Good question from Stacey today: "How much is a third of a sweet potato? they are all different sizes?"
Answer: One block of sweet potato = 2 oz

I'll be creating next weeks menu soon. Anything in particular you would/would not like to see? I can tell you one thing - I'm sick of chicken already :)

Breakfast: My FAVORITE meal!

Sisterly love

So, I may have mentioned that my twin sis has joined my journey weighing in at 142.2. Let me mention that this lovely lady is a busy mother of 3! We had a couple of short email correspondences when she sent her pics that I thought I would share:

Me (in response to her pics):
"the sad part is i work my ass off and you look better than me. f-you"

Sis:
"u have a six pack and a butt that doesnt sag...........f-you"

Kuddos for taking the journey to a healthier you sis! (and for having the burz to let me post your pics). Love ya!

Daily Report -- Monday

Oops, forgot to post this earlier

No workout today as I'm recovering from the weekend.
Since I didn't workout, I skipped meal #1.

11:15 a.m. My stomach is growling. Perhaps I should have eaten the one block meal even though I didn't workout.

9:30 p.m. Growling stomach again -- I ate 8 almonds that weren't on the plan.

I find lots of water and tea to be my friends :)

Monday weigh in

Eeeeek -- There it is. 144.2 lbs. Yowsers. That means I've gained 9 lbs over the winter and that I have 14.2 to lose to be at the goal weight. (At least my toes look pretty.)

Ok, here we go...I CANNOT believe I am doing this. After I jumped on the scale and that scary number stared back at me, I decided to take before pics -- here they are folks. (Not only do they look lumpy, but everything seems to be lopsided!) If this shipwreck won't keep you tuned in -- I don't know what will...

What's your weigh in?

The good the bad and the ugly...

Over the weekend, I competed in the CrossFit games sectional competition. As a treat for my hard work and a good bye to carbs, I indulged in a wafel from the Wafel and Dinges truck. YUM!

Don't do this at home!!!

Shopping Notes

A couple of notes:
  • I bought frozen cauliflower because I didn't feel like spending $4/ head on the organic stuff
  • I bought frozen cubed sweet potatoes because whole foods didn't have sweet potatoes (WTF) -- we'll see how they taste
  • The Paleo gods don't use Olive Oil. I purchased some coconut oil for cooking.
  • Yes, eating healthy IS expensive. As we go on, I'll look at ways to cut costs here and there mostly by eating what is in season. Use the weekly shopping list as a guideline. If you have left overs of a protein or you find a great deal at the grocery store -- feel free to sub it. Use these zone block charts as guidelines: CrossFit journal on the zone, Zone Diet block chart. Lastly, think of it as an investment in your health :)

Week 1 Plan (March 29-April 4)

The plan:
Paleo-Zone (with 2 exceptions*)
Zone measurements will be based on 12 blocks which I think is a little low for me, but I'm going to give it a try.

*Exceptions to the Paleo Rules: I will have 1 coffee WITH CREAM in the morning and 1/3 sweet potato with dinner.

Here is my daily meal plan for the next 7 days (yes, I'll eat the same thing everyday).
Here's the shopping list. I'll make adjustments like how may bunches of broccoli vs cups I need after the shopping trip.
